In the 1950s and 60s at the former Mannheim Institute for Market Psychology Bernt Spiegel, later to be Professor in Göttingen, “laid the foundation stones of market psychology”, as Context, the information service for this sector, once wrote. It was here that the term “market psychology” was born and here that the psychological market model with the now widely used niche theory came into being. And it was here too that biotic processes and their offshoots were developed to a high level of maturity.
Nowadays we are an interdisciplinary team which is continually expanding and in which with every task our cumulative knowledge is systematically cross-linked with what is new and thus developed further. The development of new research methods continues to occupy a large place in this.
